In recent years, consumer perspectives have changed from a primary focus on material needs to a much more heightened awareness of the world around us. Many consumers want the companies they associate with to share that same awareness – and companies are responding. Our April luncheon's speakers will discuss how local Indianapolis companies are using green marketing to win over customers. What green marketing methods are they using and how important is "green" to customers? How successful has it been? What are the challenges? What do they see for the future of green marketing? Presenter Bios


Renee Sweany

Renee Sweany has spent the past several years surrounding herself by like-minded people who share her passion for caring for the planet. She is owner of Green Indy, a company that currently has three branches: Green Piece Indy, a twice-weekly email service sending tips to more than 3,700 subscribers on how to live a greener lifestyle in Indianapolis; Green Savings Indy, a coupon book of green products and services available in Indianapolis; and GreenClipping, a deal web site that connects consumers to green businesses. Renee is a board member of Keep Indianapolis Beautiful where she is active with the young professionals group, SOLAR; Indy Food Co-op, our city's only nonprofit, community-owned grocer, where she serves as the marketing chair; and Workforce Inc., a nonprofit employing ex-offenders to recycle electronics. She received a 2009 Sustainability Award from the Mayor's Office for her Rush Hour Recycling events where more than 75 tons of electronics and cardboard were recycled. She was also recognized as Enterprising Woman of the Year at the Indiana Green Business Awards 2010.

Glenn Livers

Indianapolis Power & Light Company (IPL)

Glenn is a proud Boilermaker graduate of Purdue University who went on to earn her MBA at Butler University. She has been an integral part of the Indianapolis Power & Light Company for the last 14 years and has held the management reigns of IPL's Green Power Option since its introduction in 1998. As part of IPL's "Live Energy Smart" Program Management group, Glenn currently manages several energy efficiency and energy conservation programs that offer IPL customers ways to save electricity and money.
